Chapter one

Husband and father

The household

I’m a dad of two, married to my best friend, with two beautiful goldens, living in Andover, MA. We lead a busy and active life, and our house is rarely quiet. We love to travel together, see live music, play family games, and take on fun challenges. Places like Boda Borg, the best mini-escape-room experience on the planet, are some of our favorites.

I’m a tinkerer with some lifelong passions and hobbies, but I’m always open to learning something new or trying something different. As a family, we value experiences over things, and we try to keep an open mind to new places and things to try.

Chapter two

Dog dad of two

We love our dogs! This is Honey and Candy, our two golden retrievers. Honey loves to snooze and watch over the house, while Candy is a whirlwind of never-ending energy (and anxiety!).

They both enjoy swimming, hiking, road trips, and discovering new places. We spend as much time as we can with them and travel with them as often as possible.

They follow you along the bottom of the page. Stop, and they lie down.

Chapter three

Musician

Music has always been a big part of my life. I grew up surrounded by it: my dad was a jazz musician, and my mom has a lifelong love of the oldies, so I had a solid foundation. I’ve been playing guitar and bass for most of my life, and have added piano and drums along the way.

I’m still learning, and I have a passion for learning new concepts, applying new theory, and playing old things different ways. I’ve been playing with the same group of collaborators for over 20 years and have no plans to stop well into old age. My goal is to retire young enough to have many good years of playing and learning ahead of me.

Chapter four

Vinyl collector

My lifelong love of music led me into collecting vinyl some years back, and it’s become another passion. For me it’s about the music; I’m no audiophile. I want to own everything that I love, so it can’t ever be “no longer streamed” by a service, and so that I can support the artists I love.

There’s an element of physical interaction with records that is hard to replicate with digital music. It takes a small amount of effort to consume music this way, and that’s part of the enjoyment.

I collect everything from my favorite modern artists to records from the 40s, 50s and 60s. I especially enjoy collecting old jazz records, particularly bossa nova, hard bop and cool jazz. I’m always up for something new, or a random record store discount crate find with a cool cover.

Chapter five

World travel

I’ve been lucky enough to travel all over the world for both work and pleasure. Working for QuantumBlack and McKinsey, I spent a lot of time in Europe (London, Paris, Madrid) and some in Eastern Europe (Ukraine and Prague), and of course my favorites: Tokyo and Barcelona. While working for Google I spent one week a month in San Francisco.

We like to visit the Hamptons in the summer and Vermont in the winter for some local getaways, and we travel to Chicago, New York, Seattle and San Diego regularly for family visits. We also travel regularly for music festivals, and to see our favorite artists who don’t tour regularly.

Chapter six

Avid reader

I love to read fiction and non-fiction, depending on my mood. I read mostly space and science fiction for an escape, and books about society, psychology, philosophy and statistics when I’m craving knowledge.

Some recent favorites are The Sollan Empire and Red Rising series for sci-fi, and Poverty, by America and How to Hold a Cockroach for non-fiction.

Chapter seven

Fitness

We take our health seriously in our home. We have our own gym with all of our favorite equipment, we hike the trails behind our house daily, and we try to stay moving.

I try to make it to the gym every day for at least a light workout, and I like to lift weights at least three or four times a week. I’ve found that if I “just get myself in there”, I end up getting a lot more done than I thought I could. The energy and mental clarity are also a nice side effect.

Chapter eight

Home renovation

We moved into our house in January of 2020 and were locked in together because of Covid a few short weeks later. We have been renovating and rebuilding since we moved in, and finished the majority of construction in 2025.

We started with floors and our kitchen, then we did bathrooms and bedrooms, then we finished off our attic and added a guest room and bathroom on our third floor, and put in a pool and a firepit. The kids and the dogs love swimming in the pool in summer and enjoying the firepit in the fall and winter.
